McCordsville was laid out and platted in 1865. It was named for one or more members of the McCord family.

 

Geist Montessori Academy, tuition free, Indiana public charter schools is located in McCordsville.  The Indiana public school system that serves the town, is Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation.
